A few weeks ago we collaborated with appMobi by building some demo apps featuring several Mashery Network APIs, including Rotten Tomatoes, Klout, Patch and Neustar. We just added another demo app featuring the Hotwire API, focusing on the Hotel Deals resources. If you’re not familiar with the appMobi XDK, you can read more about it here: appmobi.com/mashery — it’s a free mobile and HTML5 application development suite that runs in your Chrome web browser. If you know how to develop using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, you can build powerful mobile apps that access native phone functionality (GPS, accelerometer, network, camera) and deploy them as HTML5 applications, or as native iPhone, iPad and Android apps.
The demo app is simple — the user submits a postal code, the Hotwire API is called for the closest hotel deals, the JSON payload is parsed and the deals are displayed. It is written in HTML and JavaScript. Watch the screencast video for an overview and deep-dive on how this app works.
Also, check out Hotwire’s affiliate program. It tightly integrates into the Hotwire API so that you can monetize bookings made through your app, including airline tickets, hotel rooms and rental cars.
